Bridgeworks

Here's what I don't get.  Why the seperate foot/bike bridge?

uts trendy ?

I'm still waiting for a snowmobile path to the Forks.Since this is a winter City , that would make too much common sense.

Maybe so that people don't get hit by the snarling-psycho drivers speeding to and from Henderson?

It'll be pretty too.

@Hack - The separate structure is about $20 million cheaper than making alterations to the existing bridge to accommodate wider sidewalks and/or dedicated bike lanes.

@omega - I don't think it's going to be that pretty. Probably a very utilitarian structure.

Thanks PF. I guess that makes some sense.

It's to cut down on all the bike related deaths of our slowest members of society (transportation wise). It's the same reason bikes aren't allowed on sidewalks.

Did you know that in 2006 alone illegal sidewalk biking was responsible for the frightening of over 300 sweet lil' old ladies?

I can hardly wait for the announcement that we are going to pay for it with a new tax on bicycles
